Getting a dog can be daunting; there’s so much information out there, and it can be hard to know what to do.
This page will help you learn what health tests to look for in your breed.
It is always recommended to choose a breeder who follows both required and recommended health testing within the breed club and or Kennel Club in your country.
It is important to remember that DNA testing is best for understanding genetic diseases found in dogs. However, it does not show a full picture of health for a dog. Many health tests can only be recognised through appointments with specialist vets and or screening schemes.
Getting a mixed-breed dog from a breeder? Make sure to check the health testing required for the individual breeds for that dog.
This page is regularly updated, so if you don’t see your breed right now, remember to check in later.
